  1. Hah, this is perfect. Though I’ll say the two sauces I probably go through the most are both Crystal Extra Hot and Tabasco Scorpion, so there’s room for both in my life.

    Tabasco has its own unique taste that sort of sets it apart from a lot of other American pepper sauces.

    For being as similar as they are they’re still quite different. Tabasco’s extra aging gives it a funk that Crystal doesn’t have, and Crystal has a thicker consistency.

    I like Tabasco for mixing into things – great or Bloody Mary drinks, in soups and stews, in pasta, etc. Its thinner texture and more pronounced and complex flavor works well there.

    I like Crystal (or Texas Pete, Louisiana, etc) for putting on things – fried chicken, pizza, a sandwich, etc. The slightly thicker texture works better there.

    Seems like it should be the other way around. I have a bottle of Crystal in my fridge and it’s pretty mid-tier. Tabasco is where it’s at for me.

    Tabasco has an underlying flavor to me that is really gross. It tastes like… Old wood? I don’t know how to describe it. But it’s not for me. Crystal just tastes like peppers and vinegar and it’s delicious.

    Feel like this should be reversed bc the top looks like a knockoff of tobasco imo.

    Apples to oranges. Crystals is my all time favorite. Can’t stand OG Tabasco

  10. Tabasco is fine, not sure I’ve seen this. If anything, I’ve seen it more reversed. Uh, Crystal left, I guess….

    But I’m very much any spice beats no spice

    Tabasco is my go to mild vinegar sauce. I like the fermented flavor and it’s inexpensive.

    Tobasco has a smell that I really don’t like. Crystal gives me everything I want, without the smell.

    I actively dislike Tabasco and only ever use it when I make gumbo.

    For most everything else, I use crystals or franks.

    I just add straight cayenne for bloodies to make them spicy.
