Finally got to taste some burger history. Really interesting and enjoyable experience. Thick patty, medium/medium rare on toast with tomato and onion. No sauces.

Is this the place that supposedly invented the hamburger? Like the recipe goes back 130 years or something? I think I remember seeing this place on Food Network.

I remember this from Burger Paradise on travel channel!

I put some respect in this old establishment. Probably was around when Lincoln was still alive. 💀

Louie’s Lunch is a treasure. I went to college in New Haven, and many afternoons found some of us at Lou’s. Bare-bones burgers cooked in what looks like an antique toaster, some cheese and tomato, all on white bread toast. Nothing fancy, just a great tasting, unique burger.

How can the right side of the burger look grey and the left side look raw?

That’s cool you enjoyed the burger and experience! I’ve never been but have seen a lot about it. Most burgers I’ve seen from there are really red and bloody, like the bread is usually red and soaked with blood, and that really scares me with ground beef lol. But that’s just me!

The OG!

There’s a reason McDonald’s doesn’t sell burgers like this.
I get it… it was the “first”. But, when I ate there, it was probably the worst burger I have ever ate.
The white bread just doesn’t hold up… and I just didn’t dig the flavor of the beef.
Maybe I got a bad one…?? Dunno. Wasn’t for me.
Cool history though.. imagine if they threw a griddle in there and started making smash burgers 🙂

If it were anywhere else I would have many questions about that burger lol. Good to see that they’re keeping that old old fashioned recipe alive

Looks like a Eddie Murphy’s Mom burger. Was there any green pepper in it?

Really need to try this place

Every one of these Louis Lunch posts makes me wonder how they stay in business.

I get the historical context and if I was in the area I’d check it out, but it looks like what a 12 year old with no experience would come up with if asked to make a burger.

I keep seeing the word “unique”. Okay but is it actually good???
death_divisible_
Sheesh. I’d take a punch in the ribs for that. Hope it tasted as good as it looks.

Very unimpressive – don’t waste your money. Unless you are a history buff but the burger 2/10 on a good day.

I’m sorry, this looks nasty.

Looks like the burger my mom made instead of getting McDonald’s

It’s burger history, and that’s neat.
But burgers today are simply more evolved.

The hamburger here might have been the most disappointing thing I have ever eaten
