I don’t understand how you fit the whole thing in one freezer. We had to buy a second and the two together were for only 350lbs. You tetrised that.

I’m contemplating getting a sit alone freezer, what’s the contingency plan if your power goes out for an extended period of time? [in my case a future hurricane hitting]

This is an absolute shrine to beef….bless you

Think about it…. that’s just one cow, feed your family the whole winter. No factory processing or ingredients, just 100% high quality nutrition

Good pack job, I got a half beef and a pig into my standup and it was a lotta careful stacking. I can see a little bow in the top shelf, so eat from there first!

I think buying a whole cow is still cheaper than going to the grocery store considering that whole cow you will keep you fed for a while.

  7. Are you able to request the offal and things like tripe for the slaughter or do they trash all the non-muscle?

We would especially want the heart and liver.

  8. My family went in on a whole cow a few years ago, split the cost and we got about 200 lbs. each between us.

This was certified organic, mostly grass-fed, with some corn for weight and fat before slaughter, from a close family member’s farm.

It was honestly the worst beef I’ve ever had. Tough, chewey and bland, kind of gamey as well.

What are your thoughts on organic vs. commercial beef in terms of taste?

This is the best strategy BUT Id recommend picking up a tiny freezer for the quick grab stuff. The less you open that door the longer the freezer will last and that thing crapping out unexpectedly would be really expensive

I bet your hot pockets and chicken nuggets are feeling pretty silly right now.

So about how much does a whole cow cost if you don’t mind sharing!?

Clearly referring to the hot pockets…

    Is Jeffrey Dahmer your butcher?

This is actially a really useful reference for me – have been trying to figure out what size chest freezer I need for a whole cow plus some assorted other stuff. Seems the answer is about 550-700L. Thanks OP!
