Chocholate cake with a layer of blueberry jelly and lemon frosting.
Didn't turn out how I expected it. The frosting was way too sweet and it didn't look the way I wanted. Also ran out halfay, so the otherside has none lol.
The cake batter was banger though.

Great first effort. Lemon and blueberries are a great combination. Is that lemon buttercream frosting ?
May we see your recipe ?

Frosting looks curdled, but really not that bad for your first cake.

Recipe? What kind of frosting is that?

Also congrats! Cakes are what I’m most scared of making and only started again after a few years so full credit!

You added too much liquid into your buttercream, that makes it deflate and sometimes separate, especially if you’re adding something that’s water-based. If you want to make a lemon buttercream it would be better to add lemon curd into it. I suggest you try swiss meringue buttercream with lemon curd. It still looks great though!

I saw you received so many poor comments and criticism, so I had to stop and give you encouragement. Please don’t give up. You did great! You chose an excellent flavor combination and your layers were nicely done!
