In Kagawa prefecture, some would tell you that udon is a “drink” not a food. Meaning because of the “nodogoshi”, the high quality how it goes down to your throat and stomach, you don’t really chew udon, you just swallow.
Edit. For safety I should clarify that you of course you do chew, but the feeling is like that you are “drinking”, not eating udon.
