This is the aftermath of our Super Bowl party. Don't worry, we also had lots of beer, hard seltzers, hard alcohol, and non alcoholic drinks for everyone who didn't want wine.

My wife is a huge Eagles fan, so that made the game amazing to watch and led to this level of wine consumption. Today was definitely a struggle.

Given we were watching a game, no detailed tasting notes, bur some quick thoughts.

Castello di Ama Il Chiuso Toscana IGT is a nice Pinot Nero. Definitely darker and heavier than you'd expect with a Pinot Noir, but very enjoyable. Probably needs more time. 89 points.

The Billi Billi Shiraz was shockingly good. Enjoyable with some complexity, not artifical or chemically. Just easy to drink, probably a good barbecue wine, but I now think of this as a good football wine. And for $10, amazing QPR. 88 points.

Beringer Knights Valley is a winner. K&L had these magnums for $20, which is a steal, and I wish I got more. Perfect party wine. It's enjoyable, approachable, and evolves nicely with a decant. 89+ points.

Hoopes Rosé wasn't very good to be honest, no score.

Chandon Sparkling was easy to drink and perfect to celebrate the actual victory. Not super complex, but that's to be expected. 86 points.

The Weingut Riesling from Austria was enjoyable, crisp, refreshing and balanced. My wife really enjoyed this. 87 points.

Banfi Chianti Classico was decent, it's the type of Chianti you get as the house red in Italy. Which means it's approachable and easy to drink, but not as complex as serious Chianti can be. 87 points.

Duckhorn Merlot is always enjoyable and I love these half bottles. Didn't need too much air and nicely balanced in terms of fruit, tannins, and acidity. 89+ points.

All in, a really enjoyable day with some good friends and most of these wines were perfect for the experience. Easy to drink without requiring too much focus, so we could watch the game and socialize, rather than focusing too much on tasting notes.
