Washington, D.C. (7News) — Good Morning Washington was joined by Cork Wine Bar and Market owner Diane Gross and Executive Chef Cicile Mendy for wine pairing tips and Valentine’s Day specials.
“[Cork] was started by myself and my husband 17 years ago. We lived in the neighborhood and wanted to have a neighborhood spot,” said Gross. “This Valentine’s Day, we’re doing all sorts of things.”
In time for the romantic holiday, Cork is offering featured wines all made by couples, with a few fan-favorites from France and Italy. “All the different selections we have are great for pairing,” said Gross.
This weekend, Cork will be serving an exclusive Valentine’s Day menu developed by Executive Chef Cicile Mendy.
Mendy featured select items, including fresh-baked brioche and homemade focaccia bread paired with garlic butter, scallops served with parsnip cream, and gougères, a puffed-cheese appetizer sprinkled with parmesan, thyme, and rosemary.
According to owner Gross, Cork aims to help people find the wines and pairings that fit their personal taste profiles.
“If you want to try something new, we’re totally game to help you do that. The most important thing is that you’re drinking what you like,” said Gross.
All Valentine’s Day specials and wine pairings will be offered both Feb. 14th and 15th. Cork Wine Bar and Market is located at 1805 14th Street NW, Washington DC. To reserve a table for Valentine’s Day, visit corkdc.com.
