Skip the mess and order ahead: Traditional turkey dinners, breads and desserts available

No time or energy to cook for your Thanksgiving holiday? Sioux Falls’ community of confections, coffee shops, cafes and more has you covered.

Here’s a non-exhaustive list of restaurants and catering businesses offering heat-and-eat meals to order ahead of time. Take a look, and order soon:

Sioux Falls Food Co-op

Put in orders this week for a heat-and-eat Thanksgiving meal from the Sioux Falls Food Co-op. Meals include turkey, Brussel sprouts with bacon and apple, sweet potato gratin, green bean casserole, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry relish, dinner rolls and pie. Must pick up before Thanksgiving Day.

Tony’s Catering

Reserve your order for heat-and-eat Thanksgiving meals from Tony’s Catering by noon this Sunday. Pickup no later than 4 p.m. Nov. 27. The meals need only be refrigerated and then ready to serve Thanksgiving Day. Call 605-582-3600.

En Place Catering

You can order a brined turkey as well as many Thanksgiving sides from En Place Catering on their website. A delivery option is also available.

Fat Kid Filly’s

Fat Kid Fillys’ pre-made Thanksgiving meal includes sliced turkey breast, mashed potatoes and brown gravy, country-style stuffing, green bean casserole, biscuits and cheesecake smash. Cost is $175, and meals will serve eight people. Order by noon this Friday, by calling 605-240-0615.

Look’s Marketplace

Look’s Marketplace offers customizable options for a heat-and-eat Thanksgiving meal. Visit the market on 69th and Minnesota to reserve your catered meal, or fill out the order sheet here.

Honey Baked Ham Co.

Choose from ham and turkey feasts and side samplers for pre-orders at Honey Baked Ham Co.

Big J’s Roadhouse

Pick up a heat-and-eat meal at Big J’s Roadhouse in Harrisburg or Humboldt, which includes turkey, potatoes and gravy, stuffing, mac-and-cheese, green bean casserole and two pumpkin pies. The meal will serve 15 to 18 people. Call 605-767-8000 to order ahead.

Hy-Vee

Hy-Vees take-and-bake meals include a traditional Thanksgiving meal with desserts and the option for a whole turkey or turkey breast. Package cost begins around $30 and would feed up to six people.

CNC Food Factory

Heat-and-eat turkey dinners must be ordered from the CNC Factory, inside Avera McKennan Fitness Center, by this Friday. The meal costs $12 per person and includes turkey, potatoes and gravy, cream cheese corn, stuffing, dinner rolls and dessert. Pick up between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Nov. 27. Josiah’s Coffeehouse

If you need make-ahead breakfast orders, Josiah’s is offering egg bakes, breakfast pizzas, caramel rolls or cinnamon rolls. Order by 3 p.m. this Thursday by stopping by or calling 605-759-8255.

Queen City Bakery

Queen City Bakery will offer their pies and quiches to order ahead of Thanksgiving Day. Pick-up days are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 27, 7-11 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day or 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 29. Stop in or call 605-274-6060.

Breads

Holiday bread loaves can be ordered ahead of time from Breadico. Visit here.

Pumpkin bread will be available every day next week at Breadsmith locations in Sioux Falls. If you want to-go orders, call those in at 605-275-2338 by 6 p.m. Nov. 26.

Feeding South Dakota

Lastly, from 8 to 10 a.m. (or until they run out) this Saturday at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds, Feeding South Dakota will be giving away Thanksgiving dinners for those who can’t otherwise afford a cooked meal. The drive-through-style giveaway provides one meal per family with a maximum of two families per vehicle. The dinner includes turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, potatoes and gravy, green beans, yams, apples, carrots, bread, pumpkin pie and milk.

Grocery stores open on Thanksgiving DaySunshine Foods downtown will be open 6 a.m. to noonFranklin Foods, 711 N. Cliff Ave., will be open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
