Could be blight. I’ve had a bit on some of mine and lost a few shoots to it as well. Could do copper sprays regularly to help prevent/reduce further damage.

So-called “late blight” typically starts in the tender, small growing leaves at and near the top of the plant (as contrasted with many of the other more common foliar diseases, such as “early blight,” that begin by destroying older leaves, near the bottom of the plant.) Not sure where you are located and what your recent weather has been like, but you might want to read up on late blight to see if it fits. (It can occur early in the season as well as late in the season.)
