Anyone have experience with the Anova Vacuum Sealer Pro that SeriousEats praises as the best there is?

Yes. It’s great. Only vacuum sealer I’ve used. What do you want to know.

Yeah, I’ve been using it for a few years now. Works great, no issues really. I buy the plastic rolls from Amazon for way cheaper than the Anova bags and they work just as well. Would recommend!

  3. I have it and it has served me pretty well since Oct 2022. The roll holder is only somewhat helpful as the rolls are usually to wide to fit. The slicer that is built in is very helpful however. Overall it doesn’t work as well as when I first purchased it but that seems standard for vacuum sealers.

I just hope they won’t turn to the subscription model like they did for the sous vide wands.

Glad to see this post because I was going to start one complaining about the vacuum sealer yesterday lol. Maybe I’m just not understanding it or expecting too much?

When I use it, it vacuums out the air and the plastic is nice and tight against the food. But then during the sealing process it lets some air back in. Enough air that the bag will float in the water bath (I thought using vacuum sealer was supposed to avoid the annoyance of having to clamp the bag to the side of the pot to avoid floating?).

Here’s a pic of an example

Am I just expecting too much? Do you guys get a tight vacuum that holds through the sealing process?

I have both this vacuum sealer and the anova chamber sealer. Like someone else said, these non-chamber sealers will eventually stop working well. Mine is over 3 years old and no longer auto-seals on a vacuum 50-75% of the time. I need to press down very hard and press SEAL, hoping that no air leaks in while the seal is created. The chamber sealer, however, is amazing and works every time. Now, unless I’m vacuuming something big, I use the regular sealer to create bags from the roll, and do the vacuuming in the chamber sealer.

Fwiw, I’ve been happy with my food saver this past year. No issues with sealing or leaving any air in the bag yet.

I’ve got it. It worked great with their bags. I got some Costco bags to cut down on cost and they stopped sealing well. I figured out I just have to gently press down on the top and it seals like it did before.

Not sure but I will sing praises of their chamber vacuum. Works great as a sealer, and the fun of testing things that only work in a chamber vacuum has been great.

Only thing I’d say is that sometimes you have to press the seal button twice if you are working with ingredients that are on moist.

  11. If you’re looking at vacuum sealers, I have a foodsaver and it has served like a champ for many years.  I have had no issues with performance decline.

I do a lot of large batch cooking and use it regularly enough that it lives on the counter.  Only the toaster, coffee maker, and kettle also enjoy that privilege, so you know it has to earn that spot.

Costco sells them for a good deal and bags too (kirkland brand, costs so much less).

  12. I have it and it works great. My only complaint is that it does require a little extra length of the bag when you seal it, because it doesn’t slope towards the table like the Food Saver brand.

  13. Got it for Christmas after using two different cheapo ones I got for like $40 each. Wish I’d gone with it from the start.

The locking handle doesn’t seem like much until you upgrade from a crappy one where you have to put your whole body weight onto it to form enough of a seal to draw a vacuum

It’s our 3rd and definitely best one we have owned by far.

I have the smaller one – the one that doesn’t hold a roll of plastic.

I wonder if that design is sturdier, because it performs really well, and has for years.

And it’s super quiet. I really appreciate how quiet it is

Mine was great, loved the bag roller, but now lets air in whilst sealing… Looking for a new one now.
