Started a new job, owner won’t let me clean, has it out for me for telling him he’s wrong and what’s wrong with his kitchen, and it’s just been constant verbal abuse at work and unnecessary micro managing, I’ve been doing my best to clean things behind his back but I’m at my limit with the constant harassment for having legitimate concerns for our customers health, he’s forcing me to serve very very questionable meat, how do I deal with this? Can anyone please help, I need money but this can’t continue, this is insane

Call it a constructive discharge. Get unemployment on hostile work environment and putting the safety of your diners at risk. Document everything. This guy has it out for you and will not stop. Resign under Duress if you have to, if you need the money coming while you find a job. But that kind of abuse is not for anyone. STOP putting any effort into it. Pack your shit, start looking again, and call the health department. It sucks to have to start again, but it sucks more to be culpable in someone dying.
If it’s the owner telling you not to clean, quit and immediately call your state’s health inspector. Granted, make sure you already have a job first in case there’s blowback, but for real. Salmonella might be the least of that place’s concerns soon if that shit isn’t locked down quick.
Option 1: Stop putting forth any extra effort. Stop communicating with the owner. Find a job, put in two week notice, have a good nights sleep.
Option 2: Resign under duress citing hostile work environment (forced to serve potentially dangerous food), collect unemployment. Be concerned with what the future might bring.
Option 3 (or the nuclear option): Call the health inspector. Let them know you are being forced to serve food that is unsafe or face termination. Let the owner fire you, File a lawsuit. Win under retaliation, don’t settle, subpoena the health department and go to trial. Win lots of money. Keep it on your conscience and your employment history forever.
