This is interesting. I think a lot of people assume that the kids’ meal is cheaper because it is a smaller portion, not because the restaurant is subsidising it.
Odd_Detective_7772
What a strange thing to do.
Either take it off, or just raise the price to cost, tho I don’t understand how you could possibly be selling kids items at an actual loss.
There’s so much idiocy in this, let’s just attack all parents, they’re not a customer base we want at all…
SlightDish31
When I see things like this, it’s pretty clear that there’s a demand for smaller less expensive portions from this restaurant. I have no idea why people opt to do passive aggressive things like this rather than meet their customer’s demand
TheLoboss
I can kind of get if it was one of those “Get an adult meal and get a kids meal free!” sort of deal like some places have, but it sounds like the business was just offering it at a low price. Honestly? It is on them and not the customer’s fault. I know people who go for the kid’s meal BECAUSE it is lower portion sizes and there is nothing wrong with that.
Wonderful_Painter_14
Lmao I’m sorry I think that’s fucking hilarious. Imagine 4 adults coming in and ordering 4 kids meals and eating/passing them around like they’re having Chinese food or something.
Far-Pomegranate8988
Salt Bae is like “what’s wrong with a $99 kids meal?”
thewildbeej
Don’t blame the customer blame your own failings. If you offer something there’s no reason why someone shouldn’t be compelled to order it. If you want to put a rule 12 and under fine enforce it in store and don’t offer it online because you can’t enforce it.
gmixy9
No, most restaurants don’t sell kids meals at a loss; that’s just baffling stupid.
knufolos
Ah OK so why is 3 “Thai” tacos with sweet chili chicken, coleslaw and wanton strips $22? Cause that makes me feel like you’re stealing from me…
Minnie783100
This is the restaurants own stupid fault lmao 😂
overindulgent
Just take it off the menu…
OGREtheTroll
Stop calling shit stealing when its not theft.
Otherwise, offer what you want to offer and learn how to say no to requests you don’t want to fulfill; its not that hard.
beepichu
the virgin karen restaurant vs the chad IKEA 2 free kids meals per entree wednesdays no age limit hell yeah hell yeahhhh
KinkyQuesadilla
I eat kids meals because I don’t want all the calories of an oversized adult meal.
RTZLSS12
Kids meals are generally very profitable. I think this restaurant is a little confused
Aggressivehippy30
They don’t seem to understand that’s not public knowledge. Calling people who obviously are trying to just save a lil money themselves inconsiderate for not knowing about a thing only kitchen management would know is ridiculous.
uncre8tv
Bet this guy gets pissed at orders coming in 20 min before closing
jistresdidit
A menu is not an offer. It is an offer to negotiate. If you refuse people’s requests to serve them a kids meal and they say they can order anything off the menu as a contractual obligation tell them this.
The real solution is charge full price for kids items and then tell them your kids are so great we’re giving you a 50% discount.
Apprehensive-Sun-358
Are people being inconsiderate or are people just not able to afford their full portion prices? Either way, it’s not the customers’ fault that they don’t know how to price their meals.
Intelligent_Top_328
Don’t have something on tge menu I can’t order. Cm
slohappy
A lot of people order the kid’s meal because of the portion size. My parents eat very little at their age so they usually split their meals. Maybe the restaurant could just offer “half portions”.
peculiarparasitez
Fuck that restaurant.
ryan2489
Seems like the kind of place where every meal is 3500 calories and costs $30
LogicalVariation741
I just want a smaller portion meal. I don’t eat much and I would enjoy not having leftovers. But I also don’t want kid meal items.
SaucePasta
I order kid meals sometimes because that’s about the perfect amount of food for me. I figured it’s cheaper because it’s less food, I don’t sit there thinking I’m stealing from a restaurant 😅
Secret-Tackle8040
Whoever owns that restaurant is a grade A dick.
hoe_hoe_hoeeee
I genuinely only eat kids meals because an “adult meal” is just too much food and i’d rather eat all my food than waste half of it
Lil_Yahweh
selling something at a loss and then being mad you’re losing money on it is CRAZY
deep-fried-fuck
lol if it’s ordered off the menu, no one is ‘stealing’ anything. They’re simply purchasing your food at the price you agreed to sell it for. If that’s such a problem for the business, raise the kids meal prices. Or add some smaller, more affordable meals to the regular menu. Passive aggressive whining and calling your own customers inconsiderate is just going to be a turn off and hurt your own business
sxunk
I only ever order off the kids menu when they dont sell an adult version 😂 I’m having a margarita and mac and cheese!
Equivalent-Fan-1362
They could just sell half orders for adults that aren’t that hungry
OverwhelmingLackOf
So…make a smaller and more affordable meal option for adults since it will clearly sell.
YOURPANFLUTE
I’ve never heard of or seen someone order a kids meal because it would be cheaper. They ordered it because the portion would be smaller.
CallidoraBlack
Start offering smaller burgers at a smaller cost and price them accordingly. Your kids meals aren’t charity and it’s not anyone else’s fault that you don’t know how to do a loss leader properly.
TanisBar
Don’t eat there
No_Philosophy_6817
While I understand this, I’m recovering from a many months long gastrointestinal infection and have simply lost the ability to eat very much at one time. And sometimes leftovers just aren’t as good the 2nd time around. I respect the restaurant’s choice to do whatever the hell they want with their pricing, just as I hope they’ll understand that some people will choose to not be patrons at their establishment.
AsABlackManPlus

llcdrewtaylor
Just change the price to cover your costs at least! You certainly shouldn’t be taking a LOSS on it!

It’s really easy. $15 if it’s a standalone meal. $8 if ordered with an entree or alcoholic drink
