A week ago, I tried making Dalgona. The candy was too sticky to stick a shape in it, unfortunately. 🙁

    How did I make this?

I heated about 2 tablespoons of white sugar in a soup ladle and added the baking soda once all the sugar was melted. Because I don’t have a hotteok press, I had to use a flat-bottomed glass bowl and two sheets of parchment paper to flatten the candy. Because the candy was sandwiched between two sheets and would stick to both when I tried to remove the top sheet, I couldn’t stick a circle, triangle, heart, flower, etc. in the middle like typical Dalgona.

Does anyone have any pointers on how I can try to accomplish putting shapes in the candies?

PS: The candies still tasted delicious, like toasted marshmallows.

you use something like cookie cutter to engrave shape onto it while the candy is hot and fluid

use sugar to prevent it from sticking when pouring onto a surface and maybe grease up the cookie cutter

You can grease your tools slightly to prevent sticking. I am too cheap so I just use a greased spatula to flattenn. Kids don’t even play the shape game and want to go straight to sugar.
