I don’t feel comfortable naming them because honestly this was such a rare miss; it was 9:30 PM, very clearly post Valentine’s Day, but I’ve never seen this restaurant use leaf lettuce before, I’m confused as to why they would even have it, and the scallops (while perfectly fine tasting) were cut so unevenly it was almost offensive. The shaved carrot seemed like it might have been meant for somebody else’s plate.

I’v seen worse but that is not great. Heluva lot of empty space.

It’s not a very good picture, I couldn’t see the carrot at first. Also if there’s no rice it’s just sashimi

“Good” is subjective, but no highly regarded restaurants are serving escolar.

The knife work here is poor, & lettuce as garnish isn’t great.

Looks like a “I made sushi at home for the first time!” pic.

Looks like Walu which shouldn’t be served as sashimi

The worst part about sushi is having lemon touch the fish 😑

Who came up with this idea and why. Smh

Here’s a pointer from living in & working in Japan before, I’ve spoken to lots of chefs & they all tell me,”if you see lemon slices served with your fish, it’s not fresh & they are giving you fish that been around for more than 4/5 days after thawing & it’s beginning to smell.” Restaurants would rather give you bad fish that smells than taking a loss are the ones that usually use this lemon tactic, so don’t go back to this restaurant, or ask them not to serve you anything with lemon on it, maybe on the side if you really do like having lemon over raw fish. Then you can judge for yourself if the fish is fresh or not.

If you do like the citrusy taste, try asking for Ponzu sauce, it’s citrus infused soy sauce, there’s lemon, lime & Yuzu. My 2¢, hope it helps
