But this is a cheeseburger nigiri from Uobei, a conveyor belt sushi chain in Japan. My actual picture and I ate the nigiri. It was as bad as you would expect.

I like it! I don’t see why we need to be so critical. This is yoshoku. It is the culmination of a tradition of Japanese copies of Western dishes, which become their own “thing.”

I often order this at kaiten sushi in Japan. Japanese hamburg steak is deeeeelicious. Just like how you always order a side of fries to share when you go to kaiten.
