Had a wonderful wine dinner tonight at Thip Khao in DC (one of the best bib gourmands I’ve ever been to; they serve Laotian food). We drank mostly Riesling and Champagne but this was a very special bottle and I figured I’d share my notes with y’all.
Upon opening, the color is a ruby red all the way to the rim, no sign of browning. On the nose, gorgeous bouquet of stewed strawberry, mushroom, sous bois, and umami.
The palate opens up to decomposing violet, lavender, baked red fruit, clove, and cinnamon bark. Earth, meatiness, and a mature oak flavor finish this out. Drinking well, could go longer, but there’s really no need. I feel quite lucky to have experienced this wine.

Oh fun! I had the 2013 a few months back. Notes are similar but the 2013 showed much more primary fruits. Thanks for the review!
I too felt lucky 😁.
One of my all time favorite Burgs. Premier cru but punches much higher. Great traditional style with a lot of earthiness. I try and buy a few from each good vintage.
Very nice. I love that place
I’m also eyeing that thirty bench Riesling.
If you ever get the opportunity try their Triangle single vineyard. Miles apart of their standard small lot.
