There are no sides, it’s either correct or wrong

    Not chives or chives

  2. Canadian_Neckbeard

    Green onions/scallions. Definitely not chives.

  3. Difficult-Note-1204

Not chives. Everything else is on the table.

  4. RogersPlaces

Spring onions. But that’s just how it’s said in my language

  5. Greedy_Line4090

If you’re gonna call these chives, why not go the whole nine yards and call them Leeks, instead.

  6. McButterstixxx

They are the first three and aren’t the last one.

I would call them scallions or green onions as a cook in california. Spring onions have a legit onion bulb as the root. Chives are extremely thin. The allium family is so diverse it’s awesome

  8. Thinking chives is even a possible option is very strange.

Former supply side: green onion. Chives are finer smaller herb. Spring onions are what you sell assholes. Never had a restaurant ask for scallions.

Anything but chives because they ain’t chives Chef

Glad to see a community so conjoined on the fact that these are indeed not chives. Thanks for helping me prove the fry cook wrong :)))

Green onions if i bought them. Scallions if they are a garnish for bougie over priced restaurant dish.

  13. Green onions, scallions, spring onions all right. Chives is a no.

    …. Those aren’t chives. I’m team 1,2 and 3.

  15. whalesalad

Spring onion has the bigger bulb. These are green onions or scallions.

  16. SuperPomegranate7933

They are all of those things. Except chives. That’s just silly.

  17. No_Scholar_2927

Well they’re definitely not chives! Green onion, scallion, and spring onions are all the same thing. Chives are a whole different plant.

  18. SummoningInfinity

Call ’em whatever you want, they’ll still be good for what alliums you.

  19. Chives are a perennial herb, spring onions are actual onions that have been planted the fall before. These are scallions aka green onions.

Love, a farmer who plants them all.

Scallions at my restaurant, green onions at home.

  21. avocadopunk

Green onions but once in a while call them ecallions

  22. Chucktayz

I’d accept spring, green, or scallions. Those are 100% not chives

  23. Sensitive_Ad_9195

I mean it’s objectively not a chive!! Scallion or spring onion for me but they’re synonyms

  24. NotAldermach

Green and/or spring onion is just a different term for scallion. So they’re all acceptable answers.

Chives are a whole other thing, however.

    Way different flavor, too.

  25. KesterFox

I say spring onions but I’d have no trouble with green onions. I haven’t heard the term scallions before. Chives are literally a different plant though.
