If you’re gonna call these chives, why not go the whole nine yards and call them Leeks, instead.

I would call them scallions or green onions as a cook in california. Spring onions have a legit onion bulb as the root. Chives are extremely thin. The allium family is so diverse it’s awesome

Chives are completely different…

Thinking chives is even a possible option is very strange.
cfowler42

Former supply side: green onion. Chives are finer smaller herb. Spring onions are what you sell assholes. Never had a restaurant ask for scallions.

I mean it’s objectively not a chive!! Scallion or spring onion for me but they’re synonyms
NotAldermach
Green and/or spring onion is just a different term for scallion. So they’re all acceptable answers.
Chives are a whole other thing, however.
Way different flavor, too.
KesterFox
I say spring onions but I’d have no trouble with green onions. I haven’t heard the term scallions before. Chives are literally a different plant though.
