Dad gave me this bottle when I went to visit him in the US, he got it in DC many years ago. I find it poetic that although it was exported to the US, it ended back in Europe where I now live 😉

Despite its age, the cork was still in great condition, no signs of soaking up too much of the wine over time, the inside end is simply a stamp of dark red and all else was clear. On the nose this gave hints of blackberry, plum and a bit of tobacco. At first taste it’s still gives dark fruit notes but open beautifully into hints of spice/pepper/tar. These tasting notes remained throughout the next pour, the wine did open up well and even the last glass was well balanced on taste. I do feel like I should have used a decanter but instead I let it breathe for a while after opening and before pouring.
