Okay so this is my first time buying ssamjang sauce and I wonder why the one I bought is too sticky and salty (and also darker) as compared to the ones I have when I eat kbbq. Is this a normal ssamjang sauce? Expiration date says it's good til Aug 2025.

This looks super oxidized and aged. I’m looking at photos online of this specific brand, and they don’t look like this. I would return this and get a new one.
If you read the krn text in the lower left, it says 양념 쌈장. Which translates to, seasoned ssamjang. The picture also checks out that they prob added more than just gochujang and dwenjang.
Many BBQ places water down the ssamjang. The oxidation is okay. Koreans that make their own keep it for years because aging improves it. Long story, but I threw out a crock of homemade ssamjang at a korean apartment before I knew this. My boss told me of the mistake.

Make your own ssamjang is also a good option too.
Premade ssamjang tastes like shit. It’s so easy to make. Use a quality doenjang and it will taste so much better
