LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — As we gather with our loved ones this Christmas for a delicious meal, there are many people in Arkansas who are struggling and unable to enjoy the same blessing.

Answering their need is the Little Rock Compassion Center, which is offering a free Christmas meal to those without a home or the means to prepare or purchase their own meal.

For the past few days, the Compassion Center’s staff and volunteers have been hard at work cooking turkey dinners, pies, and all manner of holiday fare.

The meals will be served from Christmas Day to December 29.

“There’s a lot of people that’s homeless, or there’s a lot of people that live in houses that don’t have lights, gas, or water. And they have no way to prepare a meal, or they have no way to keep a meal once it’s been prepared, and so they’re coming here to the Center to eat. And so, we see a lot of times families with children coming through for meals,” said Pastor William Holloway, CEO of the Compassion Center.

Every year, the meals feed anywhere from 600 to 800 people in need, and it is all possible because of donations from community members like you.

“The Little Rock Compassion Center, they fill the need in the time of your…in life when you’re really struggling. I thank God for the Little Rock Compassion Center and Pastor Holloway,” said Harrell Wilson.

“Being homeless, you wouldn’t have anything out there. And just knowing and being able to come up here and get a good meal, it means a lot…it means a lot,” Wilson told KATV.

“Listen, if you’re out there and you don’t have a place to go, come on in here to the Compassion Center, 3618 West Roosevelt, and have a meal with us,” Holloway said.

Holloway says the Compassion Center still needs a few more turkeys and a lot of warm winter coats for those in need.
