**Mussel**- savory, not briny at all. Mostly you taste the tuna’s umami and a tiny bit of sweetness and chew from the mussel. 7/10.
**Yukpo**- the crisp tartlet is likely made out of fried rice paper and the meat is like Korean bbq infused ham. The jalapeño and cream cheese cream on the bottom is very subtle and not spicy at all. Moreso just cuts all the meatiness. 7/10.
—————————————————————————————————–
**Striped Jack**- the initial taste is almost like a bell pepper orange juice and then the fish itself is fresh and not fishy at all. If I wasn’t actively looking for it, I wouldn’t know that it was smoked but it comes through very subtly at the very end if you chew it for a while. I don’t think the king crab or jellyfish underneath is needed honestly, the striped jack itself is pretty spot on. 8/10
—————————————————————————————————–
**Monkfish Liver**- it smells like hoisin and black licorice. The monkfish liver itself tastes like eel with a slightly bitter aftertaste and the banana is a lot firmer than I thought. I thought it’d be mushy but it’s quite firm and its sweetness is tempered quite a bit, allowing the soy sauce to come through. That soy sauce is the best caramel-esque soy sauce I’ve had btw. 8.5/10
—————————————————————————————————–
**Langoustine**-the foam is like a gentle seafood stock that’s then punched through truffle in a good nutty way. Holy fck this is the softest langoustine I’ve ever had though. I think it pairs super well with the gel and foam. The sweetness of the langoustine and the savory seafoody funk of the gel and foam. 9.5/10
—————————————————————————————————–
**Golden Eye Snapper**-the char smell is super present and I appreciate that. The fish itself is firm and pretty neutral. The sauce is like all spice, habanero, and a tiny bit of sriracha. The tartlet is almost like a slightly fishy foie gras but creamy and with a hint of apple? 7.5/10
—————————————————————————————————–
**Kohlrabi**-The kohlrabi tastes like a piece of soaked daikon with gnocchi on top. The truffle and the sauce together kind of add a nutty buttered popcorn taste to it. Pretty good. 6.5/10.
—————————————————————————————————–
**Mackerel**-The fish itself is pretty standard mackerel. The sweet potato and mushrooms are there but I don’t feel like it contributes much. The sauce is like a slightly spicier and subtle sweet and sour sauce. Overall, it’s just fine. I felt like the rice was a missed opportunity though. The broth in it didn’t enhance the rice much and the sea cucumber doesn’t taste like anything, it’s just like eating an expensive bland seafood gelatin. Probably the biggest miss for me. 5/10.

Wow, they completely changed the menu as well. Some of the dishes were familiar last time I checked and no sign of them at all on here. I am trying to visit the place once again in June, fingers crossed for the reservation..A great review by the way.

Had the same exact menu and I think we were even seated at the same spot! 🙂
I generally agree on most stuff, I did enjoy more than you the Mackerel, I liked the play on textures. And about your general conclusion (high very high and low very low) you rated only the Mackerel and the Squab low in the end..I feel like that actually Atomix compared to a lot of fine dining doesn’t have a very diluted menu with many unremarkable plates? The squab was for me disappointing and I made it present when we got the thighs, saying oh thank god there was this with it too, I was worried that the whole plate was that. The somm commented he would have been happy with the breast and I was like meh 😑 Agree on the service too, absolutely on point. I don’t know if there’s plan about changing location but arriving 15mins before (we used a taxi) we had to wait in the freezing cold in the not most charming place but I recon this is a general problem in New York (I mean next to Yoshino there’s a door full of Graffiti and pigeons shit 😂) Loved the plates too, but I have so many people around me into ceramics that I learned to appreciate fine handwork 🤣

When I went to Atomix they had two dishes that were top 10 things I have ever had in my life. I would have drank the whole pot of yellow pepper sauce they served. They also had one dish that I thought bordered on inedible. I am certain the sea cucumber was supposed to be challenging, but it absolutely was not for me.
