We stopped eating out quite a while ago, but that has us missing a lot of our favorite cheat meals. So, decided to make our own Taco Bell crunchwraps. Fun fact: Taco Bell sells their own taco seasoning and fire sauce at the store!
I froze them without lettuce or sour cream, wrapped in foil. I was wondering how you guys would go about reheating them? I was thinking about throwing them in the oven wrapped would work, then finishing them for a minute unwrapped under the broiler to get crispy again? Thoughts?
Recipe for those wondering:
3 lbs ground beef
3 Taco Bell taco seasoning packets
2 jalapeños
Queso (used a whole jar)
2 cans refried beans
Can of fire roasted dice tomato
1 pack of tostadas
Sour cream and lettuce
I layered them like this: two spoonfuls queso, spread to the diameter of the tostada that goes on top of it, beef, beans, jalapeño and tomato, then sour cream and lettuce if you’re eating them now. I also had to put a little piece of tostada on top of the pile just to seal the hole.
Fry on the comal until it’s done, wrap in foil and freeze
This made a total of 17 crunchwraps, coming out to about $2.30 each. Helps that the ground beef was on sale and tortillas were buy one get one free. Plus these ones are like 1.5 – 2x more stuffed than Taco Bell’s

Also, I used to work at a restaurant (not Taco Bell). The whole process (prep, cooking, cleanup) took less than two hours. Honestly one of the faster meal preps I’ve ever made. Most of the ingredients are just from a can, which, I suspect, is the exact same thing Taco Bell does.
Maybe an air fryer?
Sometimes I stick something in the microwave for maybe 10-15 seconds just to wake it up after being refrigerated. Then I’ll stick it in the toaster over to crisp it. Toaster ovens are slept on and are soooo underutilized. Regular oven would also work though
What do you habe at your disposal?
The one time I prepped chrunchwraps was the last and only time. The tortilla in the middle got soggy from reheating, and the sour cream was nasty from being warmed up.
As a fellow meal prepper, an Air Fryer is a must have.

1st step is to put it in the fridge the night before to defrost it
Put it in the microwave for a few second or air fryer for a minute or two
Microwave then hot pan
When it’s reheating the answer is always air fryer
How do you fry them? Every time I do it I burn my hand trying to put it on the pan, and/or the folds mess up and the filling ends up spilling out 😭
I reheat in my airfryer for crispiness and microwave for softness.
Gonna second everyone saying to use an air fryer or toaster oven. Also, thank you for inspiring me to look up recipes for these- I love the Moe’s version and never thought about doing it at home!
Microwave for heat, then toast up each side in the frying pan
I’ve never tried from frozen, but I have reheated homemade crunch wraps in the oven. The outside gets crispy but the inside doesn’t, I’m not really sure there’s anything that can be done about that.
Steam to pan if I can but if not, probably just nuke it at a lower power for longer
