Ramadan Recipes Episode 5: Chicken Gyros 🌙

Chicken Marinade
500 g chicken thigh fillets
1 tbsp Greek yogurt/hung curd
1/2 lemon juiced
1/2 tbsp red wine vinegar
1/2 tsp paprika pwd
1/2 tsp cumin pwd
1 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

– Mix all the ingredients and marinade for at least 2 hours
– Grill on high flame for 3 minutes per side till completely cooked
– Let the chicken rest for 10 min then slice into strips

Tzatziki Sauce
1 cucumber peeled & deseeded
1 cup Greek yogurt/hung curd
1 tsp crushed garlic
Salt & pepper to taste
1 pinch parsley
1 tsp chopped dill
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp red wine vinegar
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

– Grate the cucumber and then squeeze with your hands to remove excess water
– Mix with all the remaining ingredients, adjust the seasoning & set aside

Assembly
Toasted pita breads (5 to 6)
Sliced onion, tomatoes & capsicum
Olives
Fries (optional)
Tzatziki sauce
Greek chicken

  1. What a great recipe, this is one of my favorite dishes. We eat it with roasted lemon potatoes. I add grated garlic to the marinade, & use oregano in the tzatziki instead of parsley
