These pests are some of the most resilient, unkillable, tank-like soft bodied plant killers in existence, but I finally got them sorted by using two approaches. Watching some videos of people using water pressure to blast them off plants seemed a good idea. Unfortunately they have legs and suffer little, if any, damage from being blown off leaves. In fact, I watched them regain their bearings and head right back up the plant. So I combined insecticidal soap and high pressure. That did it! They get blown off the leaves and die on the attempt to walk back. I let the soap sit for about 15 minutes, then washed it off with some filtered water and lower pressure to avoid excess drying out of the leaves from the soap. It also blasts thrips and whiteflies into oblivion and gives me an integrated approach to long term pest management by removing eggs as well to prevent resurgence.
