I just recently got this for 15$ off FB marketplace. I've never Grilled before and as a veteran that's pretty bad so trying to learn! Figured I'd start with used and learn how to appreciate it first. This lady sold it as is, I know some parts are missing i don't know the names for any of it. Any ideas on what to do first?
Want some nice meat in it by the end of the week!

Go to Weber’s site and visually find your model. And check parts needed.
As for cleaning it goers, never listen to anyone who says all that crud is “seasoning.” Unless you want your food to taste of landfill, strip this. I use a razor scraper (no it’s completely not going to harm the finish) and soapy water with 0000 steel wool. It will look brand spanking afterwards.
Looks like you got a nice kettle. Looks like a 18 inch but measure to be sure it’s not a 22inch. From the pics Looks like you are missing the 2 grates (cooking & coal) and the one touch ash sweeping system and the ash pan that sits under suspended by the legs. All these parts can be bought on weber website, or if you have a hardware store like ace, home depot or lowes that has a large bbq section. It might end up costing you nearly the cost of a new kettle to fix but will be worth it to learn to maintain it and future kettles you end up with. Plus the satisfaction of it everytime you cook on it. As far as cleaning it before first use 0000 steel wool a good degrease and a razor blade with a good holder and some elbow grease. Have fun and welcome to the addiction that is the weber kettle!
$15 is good but for $50 you can probably find a complete one on market place, depends on what the parts to fix it cost but deals on Weber kettles are pretty common.
