I have had this exact thing happen before. 😆 Beautiful, golden crust outside, tap sounded nice and hollow… very center of the loaf was doughy. At least the edges were salvageable.

Hope to make you giggle – sourdough mishap here too. At my mom’s and she had four absolutely beautiful rising loaves in the oven. Found out something stressful and (of course) started to stress bake cookies, at 2AM. Preheated the oven. I became hysterical turning the light on realizing her loaves were in there. Sobbing, snotting, apologizing – just a whole week of stress coming out in the event of sourdough mass murder, lol. She held me, we made more the next morning, and still laugh about it.
