The pictures above are of my brown butter toffee chocolate chip cookies. The recipe goes as follows and makes approx 6 dozen.
400g light brown sugar
145g white sugar
1lb unsalted butter (browned)
4 room temp eggs
4tsp vanilla
160g toffee pieces
550g ap flour
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda
300g chopped dark chocolate
125g semi sweet chocochips
2 tsp corn starch
Mix butter and sugar until light
Add eggs one at a time
Combine dry mix &add
Chill sough 1hr before baking
350 degrees F oven
Bake 8-10 min
I portion them with a 1.5oz scoop and weigh each one at 32-34 grams each and garnish with Maldon flaky sea salt.
The cookies taste delicious and I am often complimented on them BUT they lack pizzazz is the looks department. I love the crispy edge and gooey/chewy center on the thinner side. What would you do to make these cookies look better without compromising texture too much???

they look amazing
I’d leave them be. They look like perfect cookies; that’s where the pizzazz lies.
they couldn’t look any better!
I feel like sometimes we get so caught up in aesthetics that we forget about taste. My look similar and I had the same thoughts and then I realized they taste banging and look like MY chocolate chip cookies not whatever the popular “look of the moment” is.
I’d eat them. ALL of them ..Omg they look tasty
i wouldn’t change anything. they look amazing
They’re perfection!
They look great. But if you want something that stands out a bit more maybe use bar chocolate?
>The cookies taste delicious and I am often complimented on them BUT
Serious question – is it more important to you that they taste good or that they look good?
the toffee chips just flatten the cookies out, really (funny, I just made some today! ) If you want a slightly more puffy cookie add a couple extra tablespoons of flour.
Honestly though, these look just right, toffee cookies just flatten out a bit more than other cookies, it’s kinda the charm of them. I hadn’t considered putting salt on, definitely gonna try that!
They literally look perfect
They are gorgeous! Peace and love. Enjoy those cookies.
they’re beautiful as is. that said, you can get some added pizazz by substituting some of the chocolate with chopped chocolate bar instead of all chips. decorate the tops of the cookies with the chopped chocolate bar to get melty pools. guittard, ghirardelli, and valrhona are all good chocolate bars.
These look so fucking good
If youre thinking of wanting the cookies to have a bit of “body” or weight, reduce the toffee or completely eliminate- this causes the cookie to spread, crystalize and thin out. nonetheless id DEVOUR those cookies
I agree they look good. But an easy way to boost the visual impact would be to place a chunk or two of chopped chocolate on top of the dough before they go in. It’ll stand out more that way.
What would I do? Eat them all in one sitting. As will anybody else who receives or buys them. They look perfect. The fat fluffy ones are scary for anybody with a texture thing.
Do nothing. Chocolate chip cookies aren’t flashy. They are meant to taste good.
Posts like this always feel like a humble brag to me
They look like they taste delicious. I’m not sure how they could look better. I have seen people place extra chocolate chips on top of the cookie before they bake it, but in my opinion the at makes them look a bit to uniform and I subconsciously will think of them as machine made not homemade. And homemade always tastes better.
Edit: I can’t spell
They look amazing! I personally wouldn’t change them but you could try pressing more chocolate chunks on top of the dough before they bake… could give them a more “professional” look?
What brand of chocolate do you use? I can’t seem to get the chocolate to melt into the cookie. I use the great value chocolate bar chopped up
Oh there’s a chart for this! I think they’re damn near perfect but can understand you wanting a little more lift and to lose the creasing on top. Let me see if I can google it and I’ll update with a link. If I don’t update I got sidetracked and you’ll need to find that chart on your own. But I think it’s primarily the browned butter that’s causing the issue.
Ok that was quick. https://handletheheat.com/the-ultimate-guide-to-chocolate-chip-cookies/
I’d try refrigerating the dough longer.
For a thin crispy cookie they look perfect.
Have you experimented with longer chill times, or baking powder etc? I’ve found this list to be helpful depending on what type of cookie I’m looking for. https://www.buzzfeed.com/jesseszewczyk/buzzfeed-foods-best-chocolate-chip-cookie-guide
There’s a chance that your oven isn’t hot enough. The cookies get really hot so they essentially melt, then the glutinization of the flour and coagulation of the eggs help it to firm it up. You need it hot enough that those two things happen before they melt too much
these cookies look amazing what….. 🤤

perfect
Is offering to eat them helpful? Hehe I think they look great!!
Sweetie are you being for real? Lol they look great.
I read the title, looked at the pic, and said “eat the fuck outta them”. They’re perfect. You could press a couple chocolate chips into them when they come out of the oven, but it’s not necessary.
Eat them
That looks perfect. Thanks for including the recipe.
Usually the flatter cookies have too much oil or butter, but I like the flatter ones because they are usually chewy and butterry.
scrap the chips and do chunks, round out your cookies with a cup (this will make them all the same roundness) alongside this make sure you are pressing the dough into the scoop for the most even looking cookies. They look a little greasy, which could be remedied by letting the browned butter get a little bit solid. Overall they look great but I understand the overthinking.
Have you tried using a large circle cookie cutter right after they come out of the oven and “swirling” the hot cookie around in it? Brings the edges in just a smidge and makes them even more symmetrical. That being said- they look wonderful!
Crinkly cookies are the aesthetic 😏
What are you going for? They look great, it’d be good to know how you’d like them to look better.
I don’t see a problem here- they look delicious 👏🤤😍
Use chocolate chunks instead of chocolate chips.
I wouldn’t change a thing. Do you make your own toffee ? I would like to make these but not sure about what toffee to put, do you have a recipe that comes out like this with no toffee ?
what should you do? send them all to me immediately.
Uh, eat then?
Why not just make a post “hey look at these perfect cookies I made”. Instead of the whole sob story about them not looking good. It’s like posting a picture of a 1599 SAT score and going like “omg I did so bad how can I get more points”
I wouldn’t change a thing, they look perfect!
Eat them?
This is a humble brag post.
