So I have attached my set up for this 2025 growing season. Starting with the LED’s then added the full spectrum LED’s in the next two. I’m growing a huge variety of hotts along with standard garden tomato’s , tomatillos and so forth. With all these lights in my grow tent ; the tent stays very warm. Upper 80’s while in my basement. I’m wondering if I should still use my heat mats for germination. Or just place my seed trays inside this tent ! It cools down when lights are off during the night. But right back on early morning and tent warms up all day while on timer! What you guys think ? Keep using heat mat or just throw trays in my tent ??? 🧐

Do you germinate with lights on?
If you want you could use a heat map only during night but I don’t know if that’s too much effort for to little outcome
Once of the reasons for this question is one of my seed starting trays was about 60 % sprouted. So I took the tray and placed it in grow tent under the lights and removed the humidity dome ! Within a couple days in there the rest of plants germinated and sprouted. So I’m at 100% on a 40 cell tray. So I was just thinking maybe the warmth alone inside the tent was good enough.
If it is consistently warm it is probably fine. I have found that the bottom heat from the heat mat just keeps the soil consistently warm if you use it with the temperature regulator. I have lights and heat mats on until I get good germination then move the tray up to another rack with just lights and still get more that come up later.
Yes, for your “hot peppers”.
