Our first experience with Bordeaux

My wife and I are starting to get into wine. Our local shop had this 2019 Chateau Cissac for a reasonable $28 (usd) and we both loved it immediately, so decided to get a few bottles to try over the next several years as it ages some more.

Very new to tasting, so excuse the poor notes:

Nose has blueberry and blackberry, with some leather and something savory reminding me of roast pork.

Palate has similar dark fruits but also picked up some cherry and an earthy undertone. I noticed a floral character towards the end of the glass. Tannins and acidity seemed very balanced to my inexperienced palate.

Looking forward to exploring more Bordeaux!

Nice – thanks for the notes! Don’t apologize for being new to the practice, ever- and these made perfect sense!!

Highly recommend you buy a bunch of other Bdx from the same vintage within the same price range, and taste them side by side with some friends. It’s rad to buy several bottles of a wine you know you enjoy, but if you want to keep expanding your palate, branch out continually and mindfully. A lineup of 4-5 different 2019 Bdx will be seriously eye-opening. Obviously they can also be diff vintages or price points, but the more similar they are on paper, the more you can focus on the wine itself. Cheers
