    I’ve been making pasta about the world these days, which isn’t baking but does use flour. Made fettuccine the other day and it was so good! Figured out a decent egg-less pasta and it’s incredibly easy.

    It’s amazing how food can remind us that good food and good people to share it with (irl or via internet) make life better. I hope the cake was tasty, it looks really good!!

    I made bread (and homemade butter!) the other day for a similar reason. Sometimes you gotta beat the shit out of some bread dough so you don’t beat the shit out of anything else. :p

    Back in 2001, The Onion was available as a print paper in NYC. They did an issue just after September 11th that was funny and smart and weirdly uplifting. In particular, I remember crying while reading this article: [Not Knowing What Else To Do Woman Bakes American-Flag Cake](https://theonion.com/not-knowing-what-else-to-do-woman-bakes-american-flag-1819566173/). This reminds me of that. In a good way, or a terrible way, or both? I mean, it’s not a good memory exactly, but it was cathartic at the time. And your cake looks lovely. Thanks for sharing it.
