It’s probably safe to eat, but it’s pretty gross, and won’t be very yummy. Avocados prime time has come and gone.

Wait a few minutes and ask the maggots that turn up in it how they feel

Have you tried turning it off and putting it in rice.

Safe? Most likely. Good to eat? Certainly not.

  5. if you have to take a picture of it and post on reddit….definitely not

  6. No. While avocados are best when creamy, and a little brown is ok, this one is already too brown, and those pockets are probably made by larvae.

  7. No, there’s mould growing in those holes. Do not do the thing.

I sure hope so. I eat avos like this all the time..although I throw them in a smoothie so it doesn’t matter for me how they taste/what their texture is. But in terms of getting sick, I highly doubt it or else I’d get sick weekly!

This is somewhat common – I used to process a few hundred avocados per day. You can scoop around those bits if you want better presentation or you can consume them, tho sometimes there will be a slightly bitter/metallic taste due to the oxidation.

Most important before consuming is to ensure the outer rind of the fruit is free from punctures. If the rind was ruptured, this fruit is not safe to consume.

I’m sorry if it grossed anyone out, I’m not a very good cook or picky eater. Avocado is not something I keep in my pantry usually, as such I don’t buy them and the bigger varieties scare me with their premium prices. These were the smaller ones in a package for $3 so I wanted some Mexican fajitas for dinner and these are about a week old since they were purchased.
