I looked up a 6-inch strawberry layer cake similar to the one in the photo online and put its ingredients into Yazio. It is 11,719 calories!!!! I have never seen a whole 6-inch cake from the store being labeled more than 2500 calories!

thats a lot of powdered sugar omg
there’s no way there’s 7 cups of powdered sugar in that lmfao
The cake in the recipe looks about 50% taller (maybe three layers instead of two), and the OP claims their cake only has whipped cream, no buttercream frosting and isn’t too sweet. It’s not uncommon at bakeries like the one OP referenced to use something similar to cool whip, not whipped heavy cream. Over half of the calories in that recipe are for the buttercream frosting (a ton of the butter and all of the powdered sugar). And the recipe says it’s 15-20 servings.
Flour = 350 cals per 100g
Fat = 750 cals per 100g
Sugar = 400 cals per 100g
Eggs = 140 cals per 100g
Looking at most basic 4 ingredients for cakes. Not even the icing or filling…which could double the cake calories.
Why is anyone surprised cake is not a low calorie food! 🤷♀️
asian cakes are usually a sponge cake with whipped cream which it looks like from the pic so it would be way less than that recipe
I’ve spent some time focusing on calories per gram of lots of different foods. Makes for a quick way to get fairly accurate calories if you are home and have a scale. Most cookies and cakes have 4-5 calories per gram. I usually use 4.5 in my estimates.
I would expect that whole small cake to be about 400 grams for a total calorie estimate of 1,800.
Sugar is bad mmmkay
