Started out my brisket at midnight, after 10 hrs wrapped it then tragedy struck! Grease 🔥 grill is less than two months old and the brisket is barely salvageable. I think my grill was placed wrong on my patio. The patio has a pitch to it, the drip bucket was I’m on the uphill side. I won’t be doing that again. I figure the grass was just not able to run out easily enough

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!

If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!

    *What seasoning did you use?

*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?

*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?

    Traeger on!

Odd what temp were you smoking at? Grease needs to be hot to ignite inless there was so much built up somehow it got into the fire pot or an ember sparked it up.

Either way I’ve had my grill in shambles when it comes to grease and have burnt it off at 500 with no fire issues ( yet)

Your theory could be correct if it was on a big enough angle that it was puddling up / accumulating way to much its definetly possible still odd though if your smoking at 225. Luckily it didn’t burn your deck or house down…
    Scary

What exactly happened? Grease caught fire inside the Traeger?

  5. Grease fire happened to me too. It sucks and was a hard lesson learned. Sand the part of the Traeger where the fire damaged the finish and recoat with Rustoleum high heat grill paint to prevent rust.
