Hello everybody! Thanks for stopping by. 🙂 I’m Julie and we are a family of three. We live right on the coast here in the North East of England.

If you fancy sticking around, we’re going to be bringing you meals of the week, recipes, shopping and hauls and dining/days out – all with an emphasis on comfort 🙂

If you’re not familiar with us Geordies, we’re from a region in the North East between Scotland and North Yorkshire, and we’re famous for our friendliness, immunity to the freezing cold and our challenging accent!

Chicken & Mushroom Curry (Serves 2, Inc. Rice) – 511 calories inc. rice
1 small onion, chopped finely
Few sprays olive oil
4 large chestnut mushrooms, sliced or quartered
1 pack Butcher’s Cooked Chicken Pieces 350g (Tesco)
80g Maykway Curry Powder
600mls cold water
Salt & Pepper
Veetee Basmati Rice to serve

Cowboy Casserole (Serves 2) – 802 calories inc mash
1 small onion, diced finely
1 pack diced pancetta
1 can baked beans
Colman’s Sausage Casserole Mix
6 Richmond’s Frozen Pork Sausages
Salt & Pepper
180g mashed potatoes to serve

Slow Cooker Chicken & Wild Rice Soup (Serves 4) – 412 calories without bread
2 large chicken breasts, diced
210g Wild Rice Mix (Tesco)
2 large carrots, peeled and chopped
1 medium onion, diced finely
1 295g can Campbells Condensed Chicken Soup (Or Chicken & Mushroom)
500ml water
450ml Pack Tesco Finest Chicken Stock
1 Knorr Chicken Stock Pot
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp mixed herbs
1 tsp Old Bay Seasoning
Salt & Pepper

Cook on medium for 5 hours, then add –
1 300ml carton Half Fat Creme Fraiche
Broccoli (optional)

Cook 1 hour more on high.
Thicken with 80g cornflour slaked in cold water. Check seasoning.
Serve with crusty bread (will add extra calories).

For those interested, I’m following the Regular setting on the Nutracheck app and I am ‘allowed’ 1498 calories daily (except on Sundays when I eat what I like and have a dessert!)
I have 2 meals a day. I fast 16/8 during the hours of 8pm till 12pm and then I have breakfast of either 2 Weetabix or porridge and a piece of fruit. My snacks are fresh fruit, crudites or pickles. Sometimes I enjoy some rye crispbreads with cheese or the odd ice lolly (Halo Top are delicious!)

  1. Hi, this is Julie's husband here. Could we please not have negativity here. She created this channel as a way of sharing her meal ideas and things passed down from her mam. She is in tears over this, so please don't argue about things on here. It is supposed to be a friendly group of like-minded people (and for the most part it is)

  2. All meaks look nice. I have made the cowboy stew before but i wasnt that keen on it the chicken & wild rice soup looks nice . Well all the bacon, & mushroom toast topper i made has been eaten , i halved the recipe , but wabt to maje the ham & cheese 1 next. Wonder if its ok to freeze as if it is i will make the full quantity and freeze half.
