Mushroom Cake (Amanita)

Hi! I thought someone might like this cool mushroom cake that my [newly] 10-year-old dreamed up and helped me with. I welded a stainless armature and we covered the stems with rice krispie treat and fondant. The caps are a very good carrot cake recipe and the little mushrooms are meringue.
(I am just learning about Reddit group ‘tag’ requirements and learned that there’s a whole subgenre of “illusion” cakes!) For a long time I’ve wanted to make a cake that kind of defies cake rules, so I’ve started here. I’d like to weld more cake frames for myself or for someone else with big ideas.
