White Bordeaux has to be one of the most underrated wines out there. No idea why it gets overlooked so often…

We all known that red Bordeaux wines are some of the most famous and desired wines globally, but the white wines seem to receive much less attention. This is pretty interesting too since Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most popular grape varietals and Sémillon, while not particularly famous or widely planted, can produce amazing wines.

I want to highlight the Chateaux Moutin Blanc from the Graves AOC, which is really expressive of the region. Made of a cuvée of 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Sémillon, the 2021 vintage underwent maceration for 12 -18 hours, with aging carried out in French wood barrels on the lees for 8 months with regular stirring.

The wine is softly aromatic and presents enticing aromas of guava, lime peel, and sweet basil on the nose, with hints of caramelized butter from the wood contact and lees stirring. On the palate, I get additional notes of passionfruit and toasted almond.
