Hi, I've tried to grow chillis before with zero germination success. This year I thought, let's actually try harder, have given heat and light and so far so good, germination some success but now my seedlings are looking miserable. I think they may have got too cold overnight – is that what would cause the fading/browning on the leaves? And the biggest seedlings have had their first leaves for a week. Shouldn't they be showing proper leaves by now?
I'm in the UK and it's cold again this week so still giving some heat underneath. They're in seed compost. Should I pot into richer soil? Or feed?
Thanks for your help. It can't be impossible! I'd also love some encouragement because no one here thinks it's worth all this effort 🥴🙏🙏

What kind of light are they getting? The leaves look a little burnt
Browning on leaves could be from watering on top water could sit on leaves and “burn” them with help of the sun probably time to start feeding them as well make sure you take the heat mat away if you do have one under
To me this looks like too warm, too much humidity and things start to rot. I can see the condensation on the green plastic and wetness on the cardboard. Maybe try to let them dry out until the soil feels dry before giving water.
You are gonna have a hard time getting them out of those cardboard squares. Next time try putting them in toilet roles, much easier to put in bigger pots later on without removing the cardboard.
If they are indoors, I would take the heat mat away, they don’t need the heat mat, indoor room temps are good enough
I am also in the UK, took heat mats away as soon as they sprouted with no issues, some nights its been down to 15c and they been good
