I am so in shock right now but I opened it to make my coffee this am and it started whirring and then all of a sudden the whole middle part (before I put a pod in or pressed any buttons) just shot out with so much force and spun like a top on the ground for a good 30 seconds. The metal spring shot out too. I’m just like… if I was standing in front of it I would have gotten hit so hard. Has this happened to anyone else?? They’re replacing it and I have to send this back but I’m just like… no coffee today 😭 or for 10 days! This is my one vice lmao. Okay rant over but seriously wtf.

I saw another post a couple days ago of someone else having this same issue!! If this is a recurring thing with this machine maybe Nespresso needs to do a recall. I’m glad you didn’t get hurt!

  2. I swear I saw the same thing happen to someone else a few days ago.

Wow so this just keeps happening to people. OP did you ever use refillable pods by any chance?

What model is this? How can you post this without telling us the model?

How odd that there have been two posts about this happening just a few days apart.

OP I’m honestly sorry to hear about your experience with your Nespresso. But this is also one of the reasons why I don’t rely on my Nespresso only. I have both an OL and a VL machine, but I also do French press and Pour Over coffee. That way I have something to fall back on if I run out of one or the other.

This happened to me the other week! I phoned them up and did a video call to show them what happened and they sent me a refurbished one the next day.. saves having to send it back for repair

Nespresso must have known about this potential issue… to name it **Pop+** lol

  11. Nespresso is shipping time bombs now. Send them to ISIS.

The Vertuo machines are needlessly complex and as a result are trouble-prone. There is no benefit to the spinning centrifugal extraction method, and in fact, the coffee it makes does not even taste as good as that made by the original line machines (especially not regular espresso). If someone gave me a Vertuo machine as a gift, I would immediately return it and get an original line machine instead. I have the Breville Essenza Mini, a far less complex device, and it makes pretty decent quick espresso. It obviously does not compare to a normally-brewed espresso, but it is a lot better than what comes out of a Vertuo machine. Recommend replacing this dead Vertuo with a solid original like machine from Breville.

Note the original line machines will only make the three traditional sizes of espresso: ristretto, espresso, and lungo. If you want to brew a lungo, the largest of the three at 3.35 oz, make sure you use a lungo capsule, or it will taste watery and gross. The best lungos out there are from Starbucks, imho: Pike’s Place and Italian. Of the Nespresso capsules, my favorite lungo is Tokyo Lungo. Unfortunately, I have not found a decaf Lungo worth buying from any manufacturer. I use a Starbucks Espresso decaf, and simply make a double when I want decaf.
