The fast-casual franchise, which started in the Las Vegas area, will open its first Northern Nevada location in south Reno.

The growing Reno restaurant scene is getting another addition as a fast-casual Greek franchise is set to open its first location in the city.

The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill will open its first Reno restaurant at the Damonte Ranch Town Center on Steamboat Parkway. The store is located at 1171 Steamboat Pkwy., Suite 100, but no opening date has been announced.

The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill started in 2011 from one restaurant in Henderson, Nevada. 

The restaurant, which was originally operated by a Greek-Armenian family, was acquired five years later by Las Vegas locals Nick Della Penna and Trent Jones. Della Pena and Jones then partnered with United Franchise Group to expand the brand into multiple locations.

Today, The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill has more than 50 stores across the United States and Canada, with 300 stores also in development.

The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill also has a kids menu that includes a cheese pizza, chicken fingers, a grilled cheese pita, and souvlaki or gyro plate.

When is The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill opening in Reno?

The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill has not announced an opening date yet.

As of Jan. 16, the restaurant’s official website and Facebook page only says that the Reno restaurant is coming soon. Its business license was submitted on Oct. 8, 2024, according to the city of Reno.

A representative for the company confirmed with the Reno Gazette Journal that the location will be opening “soon.”

The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, which is located next to The Brass Tap, is the latest restaurant to be added at the popular south Reno shopping center. 

In addition to longtime fixtures Twisted Fork and McDonald’s, other restaurants at the location include Asian Paradise, the re-opened Tofu House, Poke N Go, Lamppost Pizza, Roberto’s, Subway and Starbucks.

A Slim Chickens restaurant is also under construction at the Damonte Ranch Town Center.
