When it comes to labels, “Mediterranean” is one of the vaguest. The sea stretches between three continents, spans roughly 2,500 miles, and touches over 20 countries, each with its own distinct culinary identity. That hasn’t stopped people from asking where they can get the best Mediterranean food in SF, though. In that spirit, we did our research, going to places that we thought fit the bill, and places that proudly have “Mediterranean” stamped in their names and menus. The next time a friend asks you where to go for Mediterranean, here are a bunch of spots—with influences that range from Morocco to Türkiye—that we love.
