Huntsville residents will soon have another option for Mediterranean cuisine.

Spitz Mediterranean announced Friday that its first location in Alabama will be at the new Food City development in Hampton Cove.

The restaurant is named after the Mediterranean art of cooking meat on a Spit and is known for its fresh, fast-casual menu, lively atmosphere and unique twist on Mediterranean street food.

Founded with a mission to bring fresh, bold Mediterranean flavors to communities across the country, Spitz has grown in popularity for its signature dishes, including doner wraps, falafel, hummus, loaded fries, and craft beverages, the restaurant said in a news release.

The new Hampton Cove location says it will offer the same menu, along with a warm, inviting ambiance perfect for both quick bites and relaxed meals.

“We are thrilled to bring Spitz to Alabama for the very first time,” said Lauren Ricci, owner of Spitz. “Hampton Cove’s dynamic community and the exciting new Food City development make this the perfect location to introduce our brand. We look forward to becoming a go-to spot for locals seeking bold flavors and a welcoming atmosphere.”

The addition of Spitz is part of a broader effort to make the Food City center a hub for community-focused dining and retail. As the anchor tenant, Food City has already set the stage for attracting high-quality businesses that meet the needs of the surrounding community, the restaurant said.

“Our vision for this center is to create a neighborhood destination that offers diverse and exciting options for residents,” said Anusha Alapati Davis, vice president of retail for Crunkleton Commercial Real Estate, who played a role in securing Spitz for the Hampton Cove location. “Spitz fits perfectly into that vision, and we’re confident it will be a favorite among locals. I look forward to helping Spitz grow their brand across the state.”

In addition to its signature menu, the Hampton Cove location will feature Spitz’s renowned craft cocktails and locally inspired beer selections, making it an ideal spot for after-work gatherings or weekend outings. The restaurant will offer indoor and outdoor seating options, with plans for community-focused events and partnerships to engage the local area.
