    From the article:

“[Graham] Palmateer said his transition to Canadian ingredients had some bumps initially. He had trouble sourcing Canadian diet soda, while some items, like mushrooms, are more expensive to source locally. Instead of Californian tomatoes, he opted for canned ones from Italy.

But he has since gotten into the swing of things. He uses a Quebec-based company to source pepperoni, the flour he uses is made with Ontario grain and cheese is easy to source from Canadian suppliers.

The cost of operating has increased slightly, “but by and large, I haven’t had to change pricing”, he said.“

It’s going to be Badiali-level craziness for the wee pie-man with all this attention.

    All for buying different tomatoes.

  3. I’m in the neighborhood and have been a frequent visitor since they opened. His pizza is quite delicious. I think badiali is better but grams is definitely in the same league and he is a very good guy along with everyone that works there.

It feels like when you like a band before they blow up and become a huge commercial success but with a pizzaria.

Mayor Chow visited today and made pizza! https://www.instagram.com/p/DGoM5JKSx-n/

When Trump threatened tariffs, Gram’s Pizza, near Dupont and Dundas, decided to buy local. They switched to Canadian pop, Canadian flour, and Canadian pepperoni — they already used Canadian cheese.

It was wonderful to stop by today to help make some pies before the lunch rush and discuss how we can all help.

and theres a video on Ben Spurr’s twitter that shows her making a maple leaf out of pizza sauce 🙂 https://x.com/BenSpurr/status/1895509205383065737

  5. This was my local hidden gem, I guess the cat’s out of the bag now. I’ll shed a tear for no longer being able to pop in for a quick slice, but I’m glad they are going to get all the love they deserve.

I’ve been there and they make a good pizza. The garlic dipping sauce especially.

But I’ve seen this story like 5x already. Cmon.

We love Gram’s – happy they’re getting attention but sad as it inevitably means they’ll be crazy busy for a while. Their spicy garlic dip is top tier.

  8. Absolutely criminal that mushrooms and tomatoes are more expensive to buy locally than imported, We have tons of mushroom farms and Ontario tomatoes are grown year round.

I’m guessing government policy or trade barriers is the cause of this, but I’m no expert.

This is an article in the guardian? Must be slow news day.

Kind of tired of hearing these virtue signallers pop out of the woodsheds. Focus on helping your community instead of PR stunts.

Worth it. We make tomatoes, they’re equally canned.

Er, no tariffs have been applied yet. Isn’t this a bit premature?

Gram’s is good. Time will decide if it gets Badiali-level craziness. Not because of the product, but because of the location. The area’s hemmed in by tracks which creates a community-oriented charm, what Gram mentioned in the Toronto’s Finest YouTube video he did. Can be a pain to get to from DT whereas Badiali doesn’t need, but benefits from proximity to Ossington.
