HUNTINGTON, NY — Neraki Greek Mediterranean Grill of Huntington won Best Seafood and Best Mediterranean on Long Island in the 2024 Bethpage Best of LI Awards.

Alex Moschos, the owner, said he and his team are “so happy” to have won two categories and expressed his gratitude to those who nominated and voted for the restaurant, located at 273 Main St., Huntington. Moschos said the restaurant uses age-old family recipes and never compromises on quality.

“That is a testament to our family and the way we have always prepared our food,” Moschos told Patch.

Moschos said he hand-picks all the seafood the eatery serves. He goes to the Fulton Fish Market at Hunts Point in the Bronx at 1 a.m. for the “largest, freshest selection of fish the world has to offer,” he said.

“Because our seafood is so fresh we can simply prepare it — no need for over seasoning,” he said. “All of our whole fish are grilled and simply seasoned with Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Greek oregano, and fresh lemon. All our other dishes are prepared in the way you would find as if eating on a Greek Island or sitting in my family’s home.”

Moschos also hand-picks the restaurant’s meats and vegetables from the Hunts Point meat and vegetable markets.

“You don’t see many owners doing this,” he said. “It is my commitment to serving the best the world has to offer to our customers.”

Moschos said the preparation of the restaurant’s Mediterranean food goes “hand in hand” with how it crafts its seafood: traditional family recipes, fresh ingredients and no compromise on quality.

He said he cannot thank those who voted for his restaurant enough.

“It means so much to us that the people have spoken. We are so very very grateful.”

Neraki Greek Mediterranean also won Best Seafood in 2019 and has won Best Greek several times in the past.

“I also want to thank my family for their unfaltering support and my staff many who have been with me since I opened,” Moschos said. “Without them none of these accomplishments would be possible.”
