San Francisco’s Inner Sunset has just welcomed a new culinary gem: Caché, a modern bistro that officially opened its doors on March 8, 2025.

Founded by French expatriates Florent Thomas and Chef Simon Mounier, both with experience in Michelin-starred establishments, Caché combines refined French techniques with fresh, local ingredients in a setting that is both relaxed and sophisticated.

Florent and Simon first met in France at Pierre Gagnaire’s restaurant… a promising sign for food lovers. However, they aim to offer affordable menus with later service hours (yay!!). From brunch to lunch to dinner, three different menus range from simple dishes to more refined creations (see the menus here). While brunch and lunch offer quicker dining options, dinner will be an opportunity for Chef Simon Mounier to showcase his creativity, blending French tradition with Californian inspiration.

The interior, designed by French designer Jessica Starey, features wood and terracotta, creating a warm atmosphere complemented by a back patio that serves as a true urban retreat. The intimate space encourages guests to linger, whether over a glass of wine or a convivial meal.

The opening weekend was a great success, with a packed dining room and enthusiastic guests embracing the bistro’s unique vision. “We are thrilled by the reception, but this is a marathon, not a sprint—we have to go the distance,” says Florent Thomas, acknowledging the challenges of sustaining a restaurant in San Francisco’s dynamic culinary scene.

With its welcoming atmosphere, carefully curated wine selection, and ever-evolving menu, Caché is set to become a neighborhood favorite and a must-visit destination for those seeking an elevated yet accessible dining experience.

We only had time to try lunch (yum, the buckwheat galette!) and cannot wait to return for dinner and discover Chef Mounier’s creative touch—especially the “surf & turf crudo”!
