It currently has the top 100 posts from February, sorted by upvotes. I then filtered to only posts that review a single restaurant and used a combination of AI and the Google Maps API to fetch the proper maps links and locations, before exporting it to a shareable custom Google Map.
Tapping on any of the markers brings up a link to the restaurant on Google, plus a link to the reddit post and some additional quick preview info.
I plan on updating this map every month so the markers always stay up to date, even without you having to resave or reload the map.
If you're interested in having this show up on your app, you can save the map here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1S47PDkUdFvaQjvc9OVLlzVX8VuO1IIQ&usp=sharing
What do you think? Is this lame or could this be useful?

Apologies for the double post, made a mistake and reddit wouldn’t let me edit the post for some reason 🤦♂️
Edit: Hijacking my own comment to say if you’re having trouble getting the map to show up in your app, tap the link and hit the login button on the top right.

For some reason the login button looks like a gray square button on my device
Interesting, but I would argue that your method of sourcing posts isn’t an accurate read of what this subs best/favorite/most popular restaurants are, just what’s being talked about the most
This could be incredibly useful.
However, if you’re filtering only single restaurant review posts by the number of upvotes, does that risk negatively reviewed restaurants making the list? I.e. a review slamming a disliked restaurant is likely to get a large number of upvotes. Or are you using AI to filter this out?
Very useful thank you! Might not be super accurate on the most popular places but I appreciate the effort and you’ve given me some places to try.
lol not one restaurant in queens. That adds up for this sub
It is useful.
Didn’t know manhattan was a food desert north of 34th Street
The map simply highlights the most talked-about topics—nothing more, nothing less. It doesn’t validate or give credibility to any particular places. The absence of locations in Queens shows that quality and value for money aren’t considered at all.
the stay away list lol
Doing gods work!🫶🏾
lol we should do a march madness bracket by borough to make a definitive list of the best restaurants. someone else organize it though please I have too many things going on in life rn 😵💫
This is interesting and I passed by these all the time and rarely notice them. It’s hard to focus on just one when we have 100s of restaurants in every corner
Thanks! I’m going to check it out.

Queens erasure.
Nothing in Queens and nothing above 34th St? Come on now.
Anyone know how to save this map on google maps?
Surfish Bistro, nuff said. Bomb ass affordable Peruvian food
No Pasta Louise
“foodnyc”
Fam, does anyone know a better way to reach such eateries to pitch my social posts and print design work?
I’ve always thought there should be a Google Maps plug-in for Reddit. I use the two in combination every single day. Would make for a really great partnership
Awesome!! This is genuinely useful 🙌
Clutch – visiting NY for the first time and this saves me a lot of time – MVP!
I’m not sure this sub likes any restaurant lol, they’ll quickly tear down anything popular then pat themselves on the back for having exquisite taste
keens #5. huh?
is st anslem still high? i had stopped going there at some point during covid because because they had lost their step.
What exactly is the order in? It’s clearly not number of upvotes or alphabetical – is it more when you saw it?
people getting recs from folks that 34th street is the scariest part of new york.
