A group of specially trained chefs is in central Iowa to teach college students about cuisine and culture in the kitchen.Chefs from France demonstrated their skills at the DMACC Ankeny Campus on Friday.This is the 40th anniversary of the Iowa Culinary Institute’s French Chef Exchange.Organizers say this is a great way for the chefs to share their passion for French cuisine with the community. “They’re learning from the chefs, they’re getting to watch the demonstrations, they’re learning techniques that we don’t use here in the United States,” said Maura Nelson, coordinator for the French Chef Exchange at DMACC. “And I think seeing the differences is important to make them aware of cultural differences.”The chefs will spend the next two weeks showing off their techniques of classical French cuisine.
