Going to do my first smoke this weekend and I was thinking about buying these pellets. I've got the pellet smoker from Sam's as well, so I also need some wood chunks to go along with it. Since the pellets seem to be a mix of woods, would it be safe to just pick one of the woods mentioned in the blend for my wood chunks? Any harm in going outside of that?

Been using them for years. All I buy…… I’ve been smoking with pellet grills for 10 years and have used the majority of all pellet brands and I always comeback to this one. Personal preference.

The pellets are decent in my experience. As far as the chunks go, realistically you can pick any wood that suits your preferences. For example you won’t hurt anything by using a pecan wood chunks if there isn’t pecan in the blend. It’s all preference at that point in my opinion.

I’ve been using those for a few years and have been happy with them.

Use them and like them. Only drawback I see with them is a little more ash than some others I’ve used but can’t beat the price. I will also mix a bag with B&B competition when available locally to me. No issue with your chunk logic. Happy smoking!

i would choose the wood chunks based upon what you are cooking. i typically use post oak for beef… hickory and cherry for pork and chicken.

Just bought 5 bags of these last week after buying them 1 bag at a time for a few months. Definitely worth the price. Splurge on nice pellets every now and again if you want but these do just fine

  7. They left more ash than some other brands in my experience, but otherwise worked fine.

Only pellets I’ve used for the past 3 years. No complaints and can’t beat the price.

  9. This are all I have used so far. Burn clean. Mild smoke flavor

Get em all the time. Hard to beat the price and they work great.

I had a bag of kingsford chunks that I bought from Walmart years ago and that worked fine. And I got a big box of chunks from academy sports a few months ago and a small camp hatchet to break them down and it works great.

I prefer hickory everything (pellets and chunks). And I really only use the chunks when I actually doing long smokes. When I just cooking up chicken I generally don’t spend time doing the chunks.

Taste better than the cost co brand that’s for sure.

Pretty sure Smokehouse is a Bear Mountain company. They’re good hardwood pellets without oils. A tad large but won’t be an issue in most smokers. These tend to be the ones I grab as they’re a great price, I’m usually at Sam’s weekly, and they perform well. Otherwise I go for Lumberjack.

These are lignetics bear mountain and Kirkland are pitboss IIRC. Can’t go wrong with any lignetics product IMO.

Yep it’s the only thing I use. Can’t beat the price and I’m in Sam’s at least 3 times a month.
