I don’t understand why anyone other than billionaires support that guy. What an absolute embarrassment.

  2. Hurts the global wine industry and already the industry is facing challenges

Us Canadians will be buying a lot more euro wine!

The disaster is the point. Trump is obviously trying to extract some concessions from EU; and he knows the wine industry in many European nations get substantial revenues from the US
market, and are politically significant domestically. Thus threatening them with disaster is a potentially effective threat to really hurt our allies.

And he hates his fellow Americans who are urban professionals – the kind of people most likely to drink French or Italian wine and have any kind of price sensitivity. People like me!

I really do not like this guy.

Don’t forget that Trump owns his own shitty brand of wine from vineyards in Virginia. He probably thinks people will drink his swill.

I am in Canada and will do my part to make up the difference.

It’s going to really hurt the US industry, too. We are actually made up of thousands of importers, distributors, and bulk shippers. Its the backbone of our industry. These tariffs will displace thousands of American professionals

  8. Chinese and east Asians are willing to buy excess stocks.

Let US enjoy their own napa.

  9. Nah more wine for rest of the world and better prices.

  10. I do not think it will be as much of a disaster as these capitalistic economists say it will be. I think the rest of the world will end up coming out just fine if we all refuse to do any trade with the US.

I’m actually a little bullish on the tariff thing for wine. California middle market growers (not talking about Napa wine) have been getting screwed by wineries importing cheap wine to use as filler for their “California blends” has been really tough on the lower tier districts. Many of my older peers say the wine industry hasn’t been this bad since the 80s. Given that has a lot to do with consumer changes in drinking wine

  12. There are countries not in Europe that have quite good and more affordable wine than what is produced in the states.

Replace American wine with more European wine in Canada. Won’t solve the issue but it will help Europeans. Stupid trump.
