  1. Congrats. Either open it up and piece by piece or, the best option, get some beer and find some guys who like BBQ and git going!

Jesus, that looks massive. That’s only like what, 450lbs?

Congratulation! Share some photos when you are done set up!

Make sure to lift with your legs! (I too started with a joe jr and then upgraded. Still love em both)

    With great difficulty.
Actually I opened mine removes the inner plates. Then I had a couple friends help me lift it out.
But at the end of the day it’s worth every moment.

The only way I was able to move the BJ was to separate lid & dome.

I’m having my patio repaved next weekend in am dreading it.

    Good luck!

Used a large plant pot strap and a friend.

Boxcutter and take everything out piece by piece

  8. Probably going to be easier to convert the van into your new grilling shack.

Bro went straight to the Big Joe. Didn’t even hesitated to go from the Jr. To the Large first. Legend!

    Happy cooking dude!

I bought a big joe 1 three weeks ago. I dont know how much heavier urs is, but i opened it up while it was still in my truck bed and took out all the insides. That actually made it just light enough to lift by 2 people (i didnt even have to remove the dome). I assembled the cart and put it right next to the truck bed and just brought it down directly onto the cart. Smooth sailing from there.

    Congrats on ur new Joe!

I crate from van. Put cart together. Get 1 or 2 friends to help move KJ

Jr and big boy are the best of both worlds. Might as well get a classic 2 now too.

Carefully. I work in freight and I see these broken ALL the time

I did the opposite got my BJ3 and a few months later got a Jr.

If it’s a series 2 or 3, you’ll need the airlift hinge disengagement tool. Mine was inside the grate gripper box. It’s a washer, spacer and nut that gets installed on the hinge bolt underneath. It locks the spring on the airlift hinge so you can’t remove the dome. It’s a lot easier to move once the dome is off and the firebox is removed. I moved my BJ3 with one other person.
