Went on a double date last night. We brought wine to keep the conversation (and bad jokes) flowing. Each bottle had its own personality—some bold, some subtle, all incredibly delicious. Happy to share tasting notes if anyone’s interested!

  1. Please share tasting notes. Curious if you found the bookends to be too young currently. Incredible lineup nonetheless.

Tasting notes are a requirement around these parts 😁

By popular demand, here are some quick notes:

**2014 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières**

We strated the night here. This bottle was served slightly warmer due to preferences. Notes: A refined and elegant white Burgundy with vibrant citrus, white peach, and floral notes. The palate is well-balanced, showcasing crisp acidity, a strong mineral backbone. The finish is long. Could have been a bit more chilled.

    **2018 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon**

We moved on to this bottle that was well chilled, which added to the experience but also likely changed the taste in comparison. A richer and more expressive Puligny-Montrachet with ripe pear, lemon curd, and a hint of toasted almonds. The texture is slightly more opulent than Les Folatières, with a rounded mouthfeel supported by lively acidity and well-integrated oak.

    **2010 Mugneret-Gibourg Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru**

This was the real highlight of the night. A deep and complex Pinot Noir, offering layers of dark cherry, blackberry, and subtle spice. The palate is structured yet refined, with silky tannins and notes of earth, and truffle. A real subtle hint of umami lingered. A beautifully aged wine with excellent depth and a lingering, elegant finish. This was poured straight from the bottle, not decanted.

    **2017 DRC Corton**

We ended the night with this DRC. A powerful and structured Corton with aromas of red and black berries, floral notes, and a hint of spice. The palate is dense yet refined, with firm tannins. As it opens, layers of forest floor emerge. A wine with impressive balance and long-term aging potential. Was definitely a bit tight and needed some time even though we decanted it for several hours as soon as we arrived at the restaurant. Fun to drink, but probably needs another decade in the cellar.

Overall, a fantastic lineup of wines to share over a multi course meal.

  4. It seems nuts to drink 4 wines of this quality in one sitting but I wouldn’t say no if I was the one drinking them

  5. out of curiosity did you polish off all the bottles? that’s a lot of vino for 4 ppl, especially on a date outing.
